Our first race, The Save the Earth 8k, Southampton NY.
The Southampton Press has always been very supportive to East End Running and today, is the major sponsor for the Southampton Firecracker 8K. Sports writer, Bryant Carpenter, used to go to most our races. Last I heard, Bryant writes for a newspaper in Connecticut.
The Southampton 8K Course was originally designed by the races winner, Bob Nugent, for the Southampton Rotary's race, which at that time was run during the first week of June. The Female winner was, of course, Barbara Gubbins.

First Race: Save The Earth 8K

The East End Road & Trail Runners Club has always been close to the environment. We run the trails, we breath the air, we drink the water. What sense would it be to maintain our bodies and not maintain the world around us. We are what we drink, we are what we breath.
We continue to maintain a relationship with The Group for the South Fork. Okeanos is now the Riverhead Marine Foundation.
